FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How does it work?

To request a commission slot, please complete the form at the bottom of this page.

Once your commission request has been accepted, you will need to pay a 50% deposit. This secures your commission slot and you will then join the queue.

I will share a sketch with you and this is your chance to give feedback. Please let me know at this stage if anything isn’t right, from the details of the design to the overall pose and structure of the artwork.

Once the sketch has been approved, it moves into the painting phase. I will produce the digital painting and, again, share this with you for review. At this stage, you are able to request adjustments to the painting, such as colour changes or tweaks to the pose and features. Wholescale changes are not permitted at this stage so please make sure you provide appropriate feedback when reviewing the sketch.

Once the painting has been approved I will request the remaining 50% payment. Your final, high-resolution file will be sent to you once the payment has been received.

How long does a commission take?

Turnaround times can vary, but typically you should allow up to 6 weeks for your commission to be completed.

What am I allowed to do with the commissioned artwork?

The prices shown above are for private commissions. This means they are for private use only. Please feel free to print the artwork, share it on your website or social media, use it as your wallpaper etc. If you share the artwork on social media, I am grateful if you can tag me into your post.

However, you are not allowed to use the artwork for commercial purposes. This means you cannot use it as a book cover, make prints of the artwork to sell, use the artwork on merchandise etc. If you would like to use the artwork for any commercial purpose then please contact me at jon@jonstubbington.com first and I will provide a quote for the appropriate commercial licence.

What kind of commission requests do you accept?

  • Science Fiction: Yes
  • Fantasy: Yes
  • Horror: Yes
  • Other genres: Probably (let me know what you would like me to draw)
  • Original characters: Yes
  • Fan art: Yes
  • NSFW: Maybe (please feel free to ask)

Please remember that I reserve the right to decline any commission request, for any reason.

Do you organise printing?

No. Your commission will be delivered to you as a high-resolution JPEG file.

If you are planning to have the artwork printed and have a particular size in mind then please let me know and I can make sure the file is sized accordingly.

What are the terms and conditions?

You will be issued with a personal version of the terms and conditions when your commission is accepted. A general version of the terms is available online here.

Why are prices shown in US Dollars?

Even though I am based in the UK, many of my customers come from the US and other locations around the world. In order to help my customers easily compare the costs of my services with other artists out there, I display my prices in US Dollars.

If you are based in the UK and would like a quote in Pounds then please let me know and I will provide you with the equivalent price in Pounds.
